Cheap Life Insurance. You Ask Questions! I Give Answers! Part 3Where can I find affordable life insurance for my senior citizen in-laws? I read a post on another website suggesting MediCare, but I am not talking about health insurance. They only have term life insurance tied to their current job and they need to retire. They have no burial policy and each is worried about leaving the other with burial expenses and debts. I have seen a few ads online, but when you get to the fine print, they seem mostly like scams. They probably wouldn't get a very good rating if a health exam were required. Probably $15 -$25K max would be the amount needed. They live in Texas if that matters.
Now with regards to the health exam, you have to consider what a "good rating" is compared to other people of their age. Cheap life insurance is always more expensive when you purchase it at a higher age. For example, a 30 year policy for a 25-year-old would be much less expensive than a 30 year policy for a 45-year-old because the 25-year-old would only be 55 when the policy ends whereas the 45-year-old would be 75 years old. Simply put, the older you get the more likely are to die and therefore the more expensive the rates are. Does any body know of a really cheap life insurance policy for a single parent with children? I have a friend who recently had a loved one pass and the person made no provisions for their final expenses, therefore leaving a mess behind with family members struggling to pay the final expenses. This scared me to death. I'm not making a whole lot of money working but certainly enough to take out a small policy just for now and maybe convert to a larger policy in the future. Any suggestion on what insurance company to go with? Again, I am totally biased, but I know that AFLAC has a product that will meet your in-laws needs. That said, if they can up their policy through their work, that would be their best option. That's because whenever you purchase insurance through your employer it is not taxed until the policy is cashed in.
